Approved Tachograph Centre (ATC)

As we continue to enhance our service offering and promote our business as a leading, trusted garage to the haulage and fleet management sector. We are proud to announce that Egerton’s Fleet Services is now an Approved Tachograph Centre (ATC).

What does that mean? - As a business our professional team has always looked for ways to further support our haulage partners and customers, while at the same time enhance our service offering and cement our reputation as a leading trusted garage in the haulage and fleet management sector. As an Approved Tachograph Centre (ATC), Egerton’s Fleet Services are now able to supply, repair and fit all makes and types of Tacho. In addition, our five qualified technicians can provide an enhanced service by being able to carry out tacho calibrations on all analogue, digital tachographs as well as the latest C1 digital tacho equipment. This essential work enables us to further support our customers when maintaining and servicing their vehicles, as we’re able to help keep their fleets on the road.

How often do you have to read and calibrate a Tacho? - A digital tachograph must be read once every 90 days and should be calibrated every two years. Analogue calibration is every 6 years and then every 2 years thereafter until its due for another 6 year calibration.

When is the tachograph mandatory? - All vehicles and articulated vehicles with a total weight capacity of more than 3,500 kilograms fall under the tachograph obligation. This duty also applies to delivery vans and to any combination with a total weight of more than 3,500 kilograms of a delivery van with a  trailer.

What does it mean to ‘calibrate’ a tachograph? - It is very important that a tachograph accurately records information. To guarantee that precision, a tachograph must be calibrated every two years. The calibration is usually combined with an MOT inspection or a  service check. Calibration is performed by a certified specialist.
